60 to 80 Degrees Temperature Swing Outfits of the Week

3:09 PM

Chicago is known for its large swings in temperature. As we approach September (I can't believe I am typing that) we had our first day that was in early to mid-60s. Then it popped right back up to high 70s and low 80s. While this made for a challenge when getting dressed in the morning, I have become a big fan of layers to deal with the fluctuations. That is probably why I have so many sweaters in my capsule wardrobe.

Monday - sorry about the mirror selfie!
Top: Brooks Brothers (I love when they have their major sales). This top isn't available but I love this other option
Pants: Black paige jeans - similar
Shoes: Born Cap toe ballet flats (so incredibly comfy). These are no longer available, but I love the look of this alternative from the same brand

Tuesday
Top: AYR The Always Top in Nude - ON SALE!!!
Sweater: Prada from ebay (I love the blue stripe detail)
Jeans: Paige Jeans - similar.
Shoes: Aerin Daniela Skimmer Flat
Bag: Lanvin
Bracelet: Jawbone Up 2 in Silver

Wednesday - today was in the 60s

Close-up of the vintage skirt.
I didn't think I would love this outfit, but I decided to go for it and as Jack Donaghy from 30 Rock would say "power clash" with stripes and florals. Do you think it works?
Top: Kit + Ace - the top is no longer available but this would be a beautiful alternative
Skirt: Vintage wrap skirt I found in a vintage store on a small side street off Piazza Navona in Rome. This was a find from college and I have been in love with it every since. Part of me wants to wear in the winter with a black top, black tights, and boots. Thoughts?
Shoes: AGL Attilio Giusto Lombari - ON SALE!

Thursday - an one the go photo.
Sweater: Cable Knit from Petit Bateau (a favorite brand) that I bought a few years ago on a trip to Paris. Don't worry you can buy Petit Bateau in the states too.
Under blouse: Silk tank top from Everlane.
Jeans: Paige boyfriend jeans. I did the distressing myself (it is a work in progress). Similar can be found here
Shoes: Frye Regina Heels in Black
Necklace: A favorite from my time studying abroad in Rome during college. Beautiful alternative
Purse: YSL Muse.

Friday - I needed an outfit that felt like PJs but that I could still wear to the office.
Top: Kit + Ace Delancy Tank - ON SALE!!!
Sweater: Lululemon - similar
Pants: Paige black leggings - similar
Shoes: Aerin Daniela Skimmer Flat
Necklace: Anthropologie from several years ago - similar

  1. Yes to wearing the skirt in winter with tights and boots. You get a lot more out of it that way

    1. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I always worry I can't pull it off, but I am so in love with the skirt!

  2. I love the vintage skirt! I have a few myself--my vintage blue one with sailboats I almost got rid of during my KonMari cleanout, but instead I wore it the next day to prove I still needed to keep it. I don't think I can get myself together to do the capsule wardrobe. ;)
